i have a 92 si civic with b16a with gsr tranny and the car came with gsr ecu. the car has stock exhaust. the vtec kicks in and out and the engine cuts out power while in vtec. also missfires. i dont know what the problem is?

Could it be back pressure ?

wrong ecu?

 

exhaust shouldn't be a problem with the motor. did you just switch it out? is your timing set accurately? is everything wired properly? is your vtec solenoid properly wired with strong connections? which generation b16a? can you get a video posted of what happens?

 

Is the CEL ON?

Start by checking the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Replace if corroded or worn. Have you checked the fuel pressure?

 

something similar happened to me it had a bad idle and vtec would cut out. turned out the vtec solenoid just needed to be cleaned. used electric parts cleaner sprayed it in both holes and it was fine.

What type R head do you have? Integra type R head or Civic type R head?

 

i am not sure. the guy who sold it to me was not sure eather.

 

we're gonna have to know though, because that's the difference between you needing the GSR ECU or the B16 ECU

 

sorry its just the head cover, i do not have allot of knowledge in this that is why i said head.
