CEL came on

CEL came on
I was driving at about 2500 or 3000 rpms in the morning to work friday morning and my CEL came on. I felt no loss in power or anything and the light is still on. Does the 97 civic EX model have some kind of self diagnostic feature in the car or do i need to get the code pulled by a mechanic. Maybe somebody here has any idea of why its throwing the light?

RE: CEL came on
On most hondas, the CEL simply means an emissions malfunction. Your MUCH better off just buying an OBD2 diagonstic reader and just plugging it in. Every Haynes manual has all possible codes, saves your money in the long run.
