CEL code check? how to?

Default CEL code check? how to?

is there a way to check what codes i have without buying a scanner? in my toyota MR2 i just jump 2 wire connections and my CEL will blink the corresponding codes. is there a similair way to do this on a 96 civic ex

2-wire connector by the ecu. only the 2-wire one, not the 3-wire. jump the 2, then turn ignition on, not running. then it will blink it out.

where exactly is the ECU on the 96 models?

passenger side floorboard on your right behind the carpet. grey 2 wire jumper plug will be found there also.
