chips
alright i dont know squat about chips, ive got a 07 and was wondering if anybody knows of a good chip for a little extra horsepower that doesnt require constant tuning or controling, or if it is even work it to buy a chip....
well.....this questions sounds pretty noob, so i wont be sarcastic and try to really help. First off, if you hvae a stock ECU, tuning/chipping isnt really that helpful or worth the money. Secondly, you have an OBD2 ECU, which cant be chpped. If you want to chip/tune your car in the future, you will either need to get a piggy-back ECU (a seperate ECU that you wire into your stock OBD2 ECU and you can tune the piggyback), or you will need to convert to an OBD1 ECU (ECU from 95-earlier) and you will be able to chip that. Ebay chips are a complete hoax, so if thats what you were looking at, dont do it. Its not a chip, its a little resistor thing. The only time you really nee to chip/tune your ECU is when you boost (turbo) your car, or have some other serous internal mods. Any more questions?
eh, pretty good info, but not entirely correct.
What model 07 is it? If its anything other than the Si, then I wouldn't worry about putting any kind of chip in there. There are better uses for your money.
If it IS an Si, you can have the ECU reflashed and pick up a few more reliable ponies
