ebay chips
ebay has a buncha chips (ECU chips, racing chips...) that are all real cheap and all boast giving 10-15 hp increases. has anyone gotten these things? do they do anything?
i had gotten one a few years ago, an 'intercoolant chip.' i think that's what it was called, don't really remember. i didn't really notice any difference.

Well, they do work but not like 15-20 hp. They will also destroy your engine. I had one briefly and it wasnt that great. It was nothing but a resistor you could pick up at radio shack. Also, they have been known to catch fire to engines.
They make you run really lean. Have you ever had anyone tell you a car runs it's best before it blows. Well there is some truth to that sometimes. When running lean air/fuel mixes in the cyl wall it burns hotter thus making a bigger explosion, pushing your piston with more force. Well that sounds great untill you start to think about what actually blows engines and that is pre-detonation which is where you are running to lean and the pressure in the cyl walls ignites the air/fuel mixture pre-maturely. Meaning the air/fuel mix explodes as the piston is on it's way up.
Weak stock piston moving up vs a explosion of air and fuel that is way hotter than recomended = hole through the piston or rings being blown out of seat.
