Default clear this up for me?

I was just reading through my new 160 amp alternators papers and it says.."A slight whine or whistle from the alternator is normal when the alternator is under load"

what does it mean by under load...

Under load is like saying "during acceleration"

If you've got the throttle pushed halfway down, you're giving it 50% load
