Does fuel grade effect your ride?

Does fuel grade effect your ride?
I recently switched from mid-grade gas on up to super unleaded in my 94 Civic DX Coupe... a friend of mine was telling me that my car was more suited to run off cheaper gas? Any opinions?

your car is designed to run off of regular gas... premium is a waste of money. Only benefit would be the cleaning mixture put into it but places like Chevron incorporate it into their regular gas now.
