Default ECM/PCM Idle Learn Procedure

I am getting ready to install the factory alarm kit on my 04 Civic EX Coupe and the only part that I don't understand is this. After installation it says start the engine, hold the engine speed at 3000 rpm with no load until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed. I don't really want to start up my car from a cold start and rev it to 3000 rpm won't that mess up my engine? I just changed the oil in it with Mobil 1 5W-20 but still I try to take it easy on my engine until it's fully warm. Can I at least let it idle until warm and then do the Idle learn procedure once it's warmed up?

I got the alarm kit and the fog light kit - the alarm kit wants the PCM learn procedure and the fog light instructions dont want it. What determines if you need to do the idle learn procedure anyway? Disconnecting the battery?

Thanks for any insight.
