ECU Problem

Default ECU Problem

I just swapped in a b16a2 from a 1999 sir for my d16y8 i got the harness off the 99 sir but the ECU from a 2000 sir i get no tack no speedo and an engine light [/align]please help[/align]

Start by pulling the CEL code from the ECU (see CEL link in my signature). Post code(s) for more feedback. Also check whether fuse 15 is blown.

thx also when i tried scanning it the scanners could not comunicate with the ecu

Check whether the jumper wire method works for retrieving your CEL codes.

Regarding the lack of communication with the scan tool, check whether fuse 43 is blown under the hood:

i checked both #43 and #15 fuses and there both good and the CEL didnt work it stayed on and theSRS light stayed on

I assume that the engine runs. Is this correct?

If so, check for a short in the SCS line as described in the diagram below:

yea it runs perfect except no vtec cause of the engine light

Okay, check the voltage between ECU connector C, terminal 7 and body ground (see diagram). With the ignition key turned to ON, your multimeter should read 5V.

The gauges could be bad or...

the VSS is bad (speedometer) or igniter unit in distributor is bad (tach) or a wire is damaged in the circuits.
