Hey so I recently changed my alternator and my car is running fine. But I noticed recently that whenever i use my power locks or power windows switches my headlights dim or my car shakes alil bit if its in park. any idea what that can be? a mechanic changed the alternator so i donno if he messed it up or if the alternator has a problem. ALso i noticed that my thermastat controls do not work the heater blows out warm air but when i try to change the direction lets say to blow only on feet it doesnt work so basically the heat comes out from everywhere all the time i donno if thats an electric problem or what.

 

When the alternator was replaced, did you also get a new battery? If you still have the original battery, you should have it tested to determine whether it is low on charge. If so, you should consider replacing it.

The dimming of the headlights under high electrical load (use of power windows and locks), however, suggests that you may still be having alternator problems. One possibility is that the shop neither replaced the alternator belt nor tightened it properly. An old loose belt would have a tendency to slip.

The problem with vent controls is likely a separate issue, possibly a blown fuse.

I would bring the car back to the shop and tell them that you are having problems with alternator they installed.

By the way, is either the CEL or Charging System Light (battery symbol) ON?

 

thanks for the reply........... yes i changed the battery as well when i changed the alternator. i bought a rebuilt alternator @ pep boys. The mechani only changed the alternator dont think he tightened the belt but he said if any problems to take it back
