Default having problem w/ ignition=no spark

ok so my problem was that i had just made a jump from a d15b7 to a jdm d15b. ok i did the swap myself, but didnt have no problems w/ it until recently. i noticed that it would kinda misfire all of a sudden on first gear and would fix itself in about 2 secs. or so. ok so i went and replaced the fuel filter, tried to start it up, at first it kinda did want to start it sputtered for about 10 sec. then died. so i try to start it up again but this time zip.. just the starter trying to start but no go. so checked the fuel lines i got pressure but then i checked the wires but no spark. there's no charge from the distributor so i changed the rotor but still nothing.. so what could it be. they tell me it might be the elec. spark control but i'm not sure seeing it costs about 90 bucks.. so anyone have an idea??[X(]

my civic was doing the same thing about a month ago. it would try to start but would not turn over. i had no spark so i first checked my plugs (fine) wires only about 2 months old (fine) then replaced the cap and rotor. after all that still no spark so luckily my friend had a brand new distributor at his house. we put in on and the car fired up immediately.

i don't know much about cars tho so i'm sure about ur question about the spark controller sorry.

Just trying to reasure you that after you do a fuel filter change and try to start it up, it won't start right up because the filter has to have fuel flowing through it first. Once it fills you will be fine. So no worries on that part. As for the other part I'm not sure.
