Default help me understand

im redoin an old civic i got. I'm swapping a d15 vtec into it. I'm puttin cold air intake and headers. I don't know too much but im still learning and i just wanted to get a better understanding when it comes to ECU's. If i wanted ot get "hondata" would i just need to get a special chip to put into the ECU i already have? or would i need a new ECU and a chip and have it tuned? from what i DO understand, ECU is the last thing that should be done but i'm just trying to have things planned out for my budget. thanks! Also would i need any other parts with the ECU such as larger injectors, etc?

Well, first off i guess you'd need to understand that it's header not headers.

you would need the ECU that goes to the d15b (p28 i think, if it's that same as d16z6)
if you have the ecu for the d15b already then all you need is the hondata chip
if you don't have the ecu you can buy one already chipped on phearable.net
if you're not using turbo or supercharger i don't see why you would need bigger injectors
why do you want a chipped ECU for just an engine swap? are you planning on using forced induction in the future?
also, if the civic is older than 1992, you'll need to convert it to OBD1 for it to work.

I'm not gunna turbo or super charge my car. but i will have the coi and header. the ECU will just give it more power right?? thats what im lookin for. I dunno if im goin about this in the right way. like i said, im not entirely sure how tthis works and im still learning a lot of things. thanks for the help

well since you aren't doing anything major like nitrous or forced induction, a chipped ECU isn't really necessary.
