honda civic si 2006 reflash
i've been hearing rumors about a reflash for the 2006 civic si. its an unofficial/official/i have no idea and most people on other forums don't. the reflash is said to be HDS update 005 for rev hang and dbw lag.
if anyone has anymore info and details on it please post.

first, make an appointment at your dealer. do not fight with them and try to explain with them over the phone. that will not work. you can ask the members of this thread. it just incites violence.
second, go to the dealer with the following information.
there is an update for the 2006 civic si. it is called HDS update 2.005.04. it will show up on the opening screen of their HDS tablet. (by the way HDS is Honda Diagnostic Scan)
*they will then take your car to the service bay and hook up their HDS tablet to your car. this update was released in july so it would help to tell them that.
if their HDS tablet is up to date with the 2006 si reflash, it will be detected on the tablet. it will say something like this
r3bd40 or something like that depending i think on your VIN. to the right of that there will be a r3bd50. thats the update that they put in my car. i'm not sure if it will be the same for you. key point is that there is a change from 40-50. so in my mind that was the update
the details of the reflash are rev hangs for the honda civic.
let them install that. (please note that some dealers warn you about doing this. it is totally up to you, i took the risk)
it takes about an hour to reflash your car.
so in conclusion, don't get frustrated like i did. go to your dealer and talk to the technichian directly. i was lucky that my tech was a great dude.
give them this info, HDS 2.005.04, it is an unannounced update.
pros of the reflash, car feels great. it doesn't jerk or kick like a mule. its tuned to be a better ride.
i hope this helps/

I wondered if anyone has heard of a similar patch for the 2006 ex.
Honda (who doesn't want to acknowledge that rev hanging is even a problem with the manual trani) is saying that not only is there no such thing for any civic, but that even it existed it would be a different software patch for Canada (me) than for a vehicle purchased in the USA. I'm assuming that that the software update mentioned in this forum was for an american vehicle.
I've even heard from people in europe, where the civic is manufactured by Swindon for Honda, that this problem exists there too.
I have asked my dealer and Honda Canada; both say that's the way it was designed so there is no fix. The head mechanic took it for a test drive an claimed there was nothing wrong - even though he failed to match revs on every shift, gave me whiplash and would easily wear out the clutch within a year. How can we get this problem solved when the people who have to solve it for us don't seem to even realize what's correct?
I'm told that the rev hang is there to allow the vehicle to hit certain emissions standards. Turning off the fuel pump from time to time would also have this effect, but I can't see them going that that road even though it is just as silly. Because Canada has more stringent specs for emmisions (I could be wrong on that) I have a feeling the rev hang may be worse here than in the US.
I have even wondered if I drove my car across the border and had the patch installed at a US shop, would it fix the problem without screwing up timing or some other software controlled routine. Does this patch replace the software that controls the running of the engine or is it just a valve timing subroutine?
I just want to have fun with the vehicle without trying to second guess when I should be shifting (and with the massively uneven ratios up through the gears, that guess changes for each shift). And while I will get used to the guessing, having to wait, and wait, and wait before letting the clutch back out is no fun at all.
