Default How to by pass cat O2 sensor check engine light?

hey guys i have a 3 inch straight pipe that i had made to replace the cat i had told the guy to put it on the wrong side and i didnt notice the problem until i had it all bolted up and went to plug the connector in, it ended up hitting the shifter so in the end i just unpluged it put the male back into the 02 bung. my buddy just recently told me that my car is not going to perform the way it should with the CEL being on and that i needed to by pass it. Does anybody know how to do this and if so can you please explain it to me? Thank you for the help if i left anything out please let me know

Kevin
