IAT CHIP? do they work?
someone at my school installed an IAT chip (intake air temperature chip) and he said that he really could feel the difference in his 04 cavallier. Anyone else know from experience if they work and where i can get one from? I guess they cost like 20 dollars and add "up to 20 hp" which im sure its like 5-8 if anything.

Do you know that feeling early in the morning when your engine is cold and you decide to get on it anyways. It feels quicker right?
Basically that chip is going to trick your engine into thinking its that cold all the time. The added power comes from the extra gas that is being injected, which will ruin it in the long run... and im not talking years, more like months.

no, its not extra fuel, its advanced timing and leaned mixture. cool weather allows more aggressive tuning, so if it thinks its cooler, itll run more aggressive. but that sensor is there for a reason.

Yea, I actually got one once for fun. No it does not do 20hp. 20hp is a big deal for a little civic. It more likely does about 2-3 if that. Also it kills your gas mileage. Its not even a GD chip. its a cheap resistor you can pick up at radio shack for 30 cents. I had mine in for a day, then I felt too uneasy and just tossed the damn thing in the trash. Besides, it doesnt make a difference with an aftermarket intake anyway.
