Modifying injectors

Default Modifying injectors

Hey guys. My friend recently modifyed his injectors so that they spray more gas. I was wondering if this is a smart idea. And if so, how would you do that? I tried to search it but no luck

I am guessing your friend either has no idea what he is doing, or he knows exactly what he is doing. But I am leaning towards knowing nothing. I have a bunch of questions for you now.
1. Stock ECU/ Stock motor?
2. Does he know what could happen if he is just dumping fuel into his motor?
3. If stock, why does he need more gas in his motor?
4. If stock ECU, wouldn't a CEL come on?
5. How can he really tell if he is actually getting more gas in the camber?
6. If you bring in more gas, you're are definitely going to need more air to balance the air/fuel ratio, does he have anything to compensate? And no, I don't mean an intake.
7. How much extra gas? (stock Civics are I believe around 240cc's)
8. Does he have an A/f gauge and wideband system set up to monitor the A/f Ratios?

I will probably have more questions later.

why the hell would he do that? what motor? and unless youre running a boosted setup or a full out NA build the stock injectors are fine.

Well for one he knows a lot more about cars then me. So I'm guessing he knows what he's doing but IDK for sure. He has a Nissan Sentra SER though not a civic.

1) Yes he has a stock ECU and Motor
2) IDK if he knows but his numbers sure went up on the dyno
3) IDK
4) I'm not sure if a CEL came on.
5) He said he tested to see how much gas they shot out and he got it to what he thought was good.
6) I don't think he did anything to increase air flow
7) IDK. Like I said he has a Sentra with a 2.5
8) I don't think he does unless they come with it stock. Cuz he hasn't added any gauges that I know of.


The problem that occured to me about this is couldn't you flood your engine if you have too much feul in there? That's why I wanted to get your guys' opinions on this first

lol... I am trying to figure out how he simulated the injectors squirting out fuel as the fuel system is pressurized. You cannot simply remove injectors and test them...unless he has a like a flow tester for injectors.

I'm sorry, but your friend sounds like an idiot. What happens with a consistent flow of too much gas you ask? Obviously, too much gas=reduced MPG. The additional gas, if running extremely rich, could possibly leak through piston rings and mix with the oil. Once that happens, oil loses all of it's lubricating qualities. Bye bye motor.

You say he got better dyno numbers? Let's see the dyno sheets.

Almost no cars came with an OEM wideband system. I'm talking aftermarket stuff.. such as an AEM UEGO, PLX, etc. In order to accurately monitor your a/f values, you need a gauge. You can't just go in there and throw more gas in to be used without upgrading a lot of other things... (I am not saying he "upgraded" his injectors. He could have very well f-ed them up big time and should just go and buy new OEM ones.)

Like GreddyCivic said, more gas is not really required, unless you are FI, or some hardcore NA set-up.

I never said not to listen to him again. I said he is an idiot for modifying stock injectors. You can always just buy higher output ones like RC, Precisions, Injector Dynamics... He doesn't have any tools to monitor his motor etc, so he really shouldn't be f-ing with it to that degree in IMO.
