Default performance chip?

Hey guys, I was talking to my mechanic while setting up a time to get my exhaust upgraded and he brought up this chip he's been installing in quite a few cars. I wanted to know if any of you have seen this or heard of it. [link removed]

All one of the chips is is a resistor (that can be bought at radio shack for a few cents) in a box, which raises resistance in the IAT circuit, fooling the car into thinking it's getting colder air than it actually is; because of that, the PCM tells the injectors to dump more fuel into the mix. More fuel = more power (to a certain extent). However, tricking the PCM is not a good thing, and it's not going to be a noticeable gain, either.

Basically, they're a waste of time and money, not to mention a huge scam.

I can only assume you were looking on eBay... because that is normally where these scam chips are found... but here. This is stickied at the top of the section you posted in. Please check stickies first for important information.

So there's no way to tune my civic because it has an obd2b ecu in it?

Your ECU can't be tuned. You can swap in an OBD1 ECU if you need it to be tuned but you have no reason to do so.

Yea, that's good. Tell the ECU that 57 -or- 36 degree air is coming in, when it very well could be higher (for example - 90 degrees).

You understand that the ECU pulls timing when the intake temps are higher for as reason, right?

To anyone who is thinking about doing this, go buy a real engine management system, read up on how everything works together and then start tuning. Do not waster your time with this junk.
