Default Runny way to rich

now that I am done installin my b16 into my 93 coupe, I am workin out all the bugs. The biggest one right now is that I am running very rich. Are there and cheap solutions to solving this problem other than a fuel management system of a vafc?

How do you know that you're rich, you have a guage? Try installing a FPR, and decrease the pressure. That may be able to help out to an extent.

I know I am rich because it smells terrible of gas fumes, i am emitting white smoke, and my 1000 mile old plugs show the evidence. Also I am using a lot of fuel

if you are running rich the plugs should be black, and black soot or smoke should be coming out the tailpipe.....

white smoke is anitfreeze leaking into the cylinder head or crankcase somehow.....

well i know I don't have an anti-freeze issue bcause I don't smell it at all while driving, I do blow black crap out of the back of the car though because it leaves a mess when I am working on it in the shop. I know what the problem is, I am just lookin for some help on fixing it. And yes, the plugs are black

Ok, sounds like you are rich alright. Another obvious way to tell is to rev the motor up and you can hear it miss and crack in the exhuast. Id definetily get a fpr with a guage, and lower pressure.

The only thing i see wrong about the FPR is that the engine is set to run on X fuel pressure. The computer thinks your are running X fuel pressure, when you are actually running Y pressure. Lowering the fuel pressure will fix but there is still the problem of why are you rich in the first place. I would find the cause of the rich fuel mixture instead of lowering the fuel pressure. Unless, your fuel pressure is high for some reason. Maybe your O2 sensor is malfunctioning? If your O2 sensor is constantly saying that the mixture is lean, then your motor is gonna get real rich. Is there a check engine light?

there is a cel. but because of the motor and ecu set-up, there will always be one. I will check the 02 sensor when i get a chance though

Is it possible that the computer could store more than one code and the code still be correct?
