I shift above 3500,because i just have to heard my bov everytime I shift

Anyways, like every one else said, 2,500 -3,000 rpm is a good point.

Alrighty. Tune up time. Since I'm only used to doing tune ups on my old Mazda pickup (air filter, oil change, spark plugs, oil filter, and a few other minor things) what should I make sure to change? The car is nearly at 70k miles so I think I should do the timing belt as well.

going ahead on the timing belt is a good idea, I'd take the chance to put on a new water pump while everything is off. A friend is good to have if you do the timing belt, an extra set of hands and moral support when you're getting the crank pulley off will make things go more smoothly. You might want to also get new plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor.

hrm im on half tank at the moment and i filled up last week and if anyone even lives in L.A i go from san fernando to Oxnard county 2-3 times a week and that a big *** hill it all depends on your driving style really, i go from 1st gear to 4th gear but thats just my gearing and my tune like if you see a red lihgt dont floor it, studies say speeding will only get you were to need to go 1-2 min faster then if you driving 60 in a 35

wow. cuz yeah I'd lie about how many miles I could get on a tank. What would make you feel better Mr. Lawyer? A video of me off youtube with my HCF login on a piece of paper while I'm at the pump filling up my EM2 and then have the camera move over to the screen where I show everyone how I can manage to fit OVER 14 gallons into my civic?

I'm not a liar champ, just know how to squeeze all the gas in there.

Besides it's not like I told you guys I swapped a K into my car.

Ok, sorry if it's true, just saying your gas tank is rated at 13.2...maybe they rate it 2 gallons off.

Okay, so I have this '98 EX. I've tried so many different speeds in different gears, but what is the preffered way to drive it and save fuel? On the freeway it does great, but in town it's like I have to refill it every couple of days. I had an old '87 Mazda B2200 for a while and that thing was excellent on fuel. On this Civic, I try not to get the RPMs above 4000 so the VTEC don't kick in so I shift around 3000-3500 RPM. Is this wrong or what? The max RPM is 7000.

Thanks
I also have a manual 98 EX (D16Y8 engine).
VTEC engages at 5,300 rpm and redline is actually at 7,200 rpm even though the guage is red at 7k.

Also, check your owner's manual for the recommended shifting speeds. It has two different charts for the EX model and they list the recommended speed (mph) you should shift from each gear depending on the speed you wish to accelarate to.

So, what's the procedure / secret? I'm curious as hell, personally... [sm=youreright.gif]
