Hey clean98EX, I thought only i-VTEC had 3 stages? I thought "Old school" VTEC was just ON/OFF.

Also judging by the much clearer sound with my new intake, I am inclined to agree that it definitely kicks in around 5700 RPM

I second all of Fast93's questions... this gizmo sounds killer. How much do they cost?

 

like i said, don't quote me, but thats how i interpret it. with shipping mine was right around 185. But the nice thing is that you can put the vtec at 6000 and never hit during normal daily driving. But when you need it just turn the dial and your haulin'!!!!!

you can get vtec conrollers on Ebay, and anything else for that matter.

 

when does my 01 ex hit v-tec? i think its 4500 but im not sure.

In this case i wouldn't go to ebay. $185 is pretty good, these aren't as common as the VAFC's (i don't know why). Hopefully i'll get some pics but it's pretty cool!

 

Vtec doesnt engage at 5700. Its like 4500, im positive.
