Default Z6 swap questions.

Ok so i'm in the process of building a Z6 for boost and swapping it into a 1992 CX hatch. Starting from the ground up. I want a clean install and not have to cut into the factory engine harness in order to run vtec. My question is do I need an SI harness that runs from the ECU through the firewall so I can just plug in the engine harness that I already have on the motor or can I use the stock ECU harness that is already in the CX? Also should I even bother with it if I decide to use hondata? What needs to be done to run hondata? Thanks guys.

You are in great luck, all 1992 Civics came partially wired for VTEC (from the ECU to the strut tower), regardless of the trim level. This is the only year that this happened.

All you need is an engine harness from a 92-95 EX/Si. Plug it in and you're good to go. You might (this isn't definite) need to extend a couple wires to reach some sensors, but that's certainly easier than adding wires.

I recommend just swapping the harness, because if you were to add the 2 VTEC wires yourself, you'd still have to add 3 additional wires to make the CX engine harness able to work with the 4 wire O2 sensor that the D16Z6/P28 ECU use.

read the "MISC. NOTES" section at the bottom of this.

ignore the knock sensor/secondary butterfly part, you don't have those.

Awesome! I was hopeing the harness was run that way. Good ol' honda. I have the full engine harness that came with the motor so it will literally be a plug and play. I don't have a p28 for it so I'll have to get an ECU but I wonder if I should just go ahead and get one of the prechipped ones from phearable.net
