B16A1 into my 90 DX
I'm getting ready to purchase a B16A1 JDM motor that comes complete with wiring harness, ECU, and Y1 tranny.
I need to know what kind of wiring I'm going to need to do when I get the motor in. I have the motor mounts and everything I'm just wondering what kind of the nightmare the wiring is going to be. I would come to think it shouldn't be too bad since the motor is coming with ECU and wiring and everythingm, right? I know it cant be that easy though.
Also will 94 - 97 Integra LS axles work for this swap?

hey its me your friendly neighborhood post *****. i know for sure you will need a resistor box if you dont already have it. it runs the multi point fuel injection. your old motor has dual point fuel injection. also buy a haynes manual. its worth the 15 bucks, saves alot of head aches. it also has wiring schematics in it that come in handy when wiring in your swap. just get some different color markers to trace out each part to its corresponding component so you dont get lost in all the lines. its pretty simple once you get into it just time consuming. good luck.
http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/mpficonversion.htm <<<<<< visit there for your multiport conversion instructions, it is what i use and havnt ever had a problem with it.
http://www.hasport.com/Tech/Wring/EFDX-VTEC.PDF <<<<<<<<<< visit there to wire in your vtec ecu.
you will actually need the 90-91 integra axles as for some reason 92 and up never seem to fit right for me, its like there too long or something. as for the wiring you will need 4 injector plugs, the resistor box, a si/hf/ls distributor harness plug(one that goes from the car and plugs into the dizzy) and about 20ft of 16guage wire along with heatshrink and solder(right way)

thanks guys.
i found the dx to si conversion kit on eBay and that seems easy enough. I'm rewiring my whole dash and all for a 96 integra, the motor I'm getting is coming with a wiring harness, ecu, distributor, what kind of wiring harness should I expect? I just pulled every wiring harness out of my car today and there was the MAIN harness that has everything on it from the battery to the dash and one for the back of the motor that has the alternator, fuel injectors and intake manifold senors on it, and one that had all the left side headlights and turn signals on it.
I'm pretty sure the wiring harness they are going to send to me isnt going to be a complete harness with all the dash stuff on to so am I going to have to wire their harness into mine? Can I take a complete integra harness and run it through my dash injuction with this motor so I can use the integra cluster and heat/AC controls?
I have a haynes book on my car and 94 - 2000 integras, should i also get a haynes book on a car that has the B16A1 in it? The one I'm getting is a Jspec so is there even a manual in the states available with that motor in it?

then wiring harness you will get probably is going to be the one that goes to the injectors and stuff. you should not need the dx to si conversion, or any other conversion, since you are replacing everything including the ecu. go with everything that applies to the motor you are swapping in. i made the mistake of buying conversion jumpers and crap i didnt need for my swap. if you treat the swap as if it is going into the original car it came out of you should do fine. yes i would try to find the manual for that motor just to smooth the swap over but u probably dont need it if you are willing to do research on the net when you encounter problems.
what I'm wondering though is since the y1 tranny is cable clutch and cable speedo, how can I convert that over to electric speedo so I can use the integra gauge cluster? Any ideas, I have a 96 Integra complete wiring harness and I'll be getting whatever wiring harness their sending me with my motor.
I can tell this swap is going to be fun (very much sarcasim in that statement). Should be worth it though.

ok I'm pretty sure I got the wirting figured out now, thanks guys.
One more question, can anyone think of anything else I will NEED to have this motor in my car that I might have forgot about? I have the motor, all wiring, ECU, tranny, new clutch, motor mounts for B series, turbo kit, and 91 - 93 integra axles. Have I forgotten anything?
