Default 93 civic dx coupe...what would work?

i have a 93 dx coupe that runs and looks great and i think about a swap. i dont know what type of engine is in it. i beleive its just a 1.6v non-tec. all it says it 1.6v honda motor. it does not seem like it has alot of hp at all, just so slow. i wanted to get some help on what should i do. i have $5000 to put into the car.
should i just but the 5k into the engine are just do a swap? its and old engine going on 200000 miles. If i do a swap what would be the best to put in it for 5k? i want something fast, how should i go? help me out here pls.

well if you want to use that enitre 5k on just an engine you could probably find a K20 for that price, but i would recomend spending it all on just the engine, you should get a B16a2 that would run you about 2k to get that in there, and then you can use the other 3k for other things, like suspension, exhaust, wheels, tires ect.. that is what i would do. try searching arround here there is tons of stuff on swaps

ok cool but the b16a is only what 170hp stock for about $1600-$2200. that fine by me but the k20 is 220hp for 5k.
would a h22a work? http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30016 the site says it would but i dont think it would fit in a 93civic. even if i get the mount kit, axle swap. my number are prob off.

I'll say the same thing I always do....Just swap in a d16z6 for 6-700 bucks, then spend 1500 on a turbo kit. More power than teh B16 for about teh same price. Then take the rest and either build that d16 with forged pistons, rods and headstuds so you can make over 220whp, And/Or get a really nice suspension. I just got some Tein Flex's and they were worth EVERY PENNY!!!
Also, don't forget about brake upgrades. Going fast in a straight line is fun, but track racing is sooooooo much better. and for that, decelerating is just as important as accelerating!

Good luck!

And whoever has that "boost is like sex" thing in their sig, is RIGHT! once you get it once, you just gotta get it again and again and again!

I would go with a B18C with a built lower end and maybe some sleeves. You could go with a high compression ratio to make instant power or get a turbo later on for some bigger gains. You will have to build the engine for low compression if you plan to run a turbo set up. 5k should be enough for a B18C and a built lower end and that should also be good for 400HP. Or you could get a B18C swap and suspension which is more of a all around set up whereas mine is all power.

H motros are alot of money. its an expensive project. i bought mine for about 2200 and ended up putting in 3-4 more g's. Go with the b18 or the si like the other guy mentioned. Most likely it will be less headaches, short and long term, and a smaller hole in your pocket if you stay away from the H22. But they are mean!
