I'm gonna go with ~8:1 compression pistons with the stock head, so i should be good in the CR department. What im worried about is actually building the motor. I'm not sure about this, but isn't installing the pistons, rods, and crank onto the block a very percise job? I know how to install these parts, as i have done it before, but not with any sort of precision. I was also thinking that if i couldn't install the interals, i would send the block to the machine shop with the internals arelady in and tell them to swap out the interals, but im sure that gonna cost extra money, that i'd rather spend on parts.
your accessories wont be needed. swaps usually come pretty complete. you can use your stock AC pump, which is key, because if you had to change it out, you would have to refill it, costing even more. but with a p30 ac mount (del sol DOHC) you can bolt it right up do a dohc. and assembling an engine is a very precise matter indeed, but if you have some experience, then pickup a blueprinting book, and read it cover to cover a time or two. then map the whole project out beforehand, and measure everything. but talk to your machinist when you are ready to start buying parts, and plan that out as well. i fthe machinist is used to working with hondas, youre a lot better off. thats why im paying through the nose when i get around to doing mine, and having Jones at Comptech do my machining. they can give you a lot of advice from their own experience, so they could help save you from a mistake that could save you a lot of money, or make you some unexpected power.
You gotta explain this blueprinting thing to me. And about the machinist, i was planning on taking my block to Lee Auto Parts (full machine shop as advertised on the side of thier trucks). And i dunno if my stock A/C will work, since the clutch is bad but i might have to get a different EG Sedan cause mine is auto and im still debating whether to switch it over or not. I'm having a hard time finding anything that is really good at tellin me how to do it and how much work is involved. I'm not at all familiar with the import scene around Chicago cause most of my Honda learning is done on the forum but ill try and find a Honda shop around here.
pick up a book on bluprinting. it will explain it better than i can. basically, you measure everything on the motor, then get it as tightly assembled as you can and still have enough clearance where you need it.
