What MOTOR to spend $4000 on for my EG
Ok, i have around $4000 that i am going to be investing into my eg. right now i have the VX, but might be getting an Si for the same price and the Si is in alot better condition. I origanlly wanted to do the B16 swap, of course with boost later but then thought about the b18b with boost maybe now, and recently maybe just boosting the d16. Would i wand to build up either of the motors or would i be safe with a good tune. I would like to be around 300whp or just enough to beat the WRX guys that have some of the good upgrades. So what swap? What parts? and what to expect. I will be haveing Courtney Green(if you've heard of him) do the install with his Neptune and other stuff. Let me know it will be happenign soon!!!!!
If you want to get to 300HP and stop, then the D series is a good option b/c it is cheaper and can handle upto 300HP i believe. In order to get the D up to 300HP (or more) you will have to build the motor with new connecting rods, pistons, and maybe a crankshaft. If you go with a B series (a B18C1 wouldn't be a bad idea) you can go a lot higher as far as HP goes. The engine is a lot more expensive however, about $3000 from the online stores, but has a lot more potential. There was a post of a EG Hatch (i think) with a B18C1 (or was a C5?) boosted and running 11.5 on the 1/4 mile. The K20 is gonna cost you an arm and a leg, its like $5500 just for the engine, trans, and ECU. Then you need some custome mounts and stuff i believe.
I'M ALL FAMILLIAR WITH PRICES AND WHAT I CAN EXPECT FOR HP TOLERANCE (RELATIVELY). THE GUY THAT WILL BE DOING MY INSTALL HAS A 9.5 EG WITH 900HP, 800HP ON 91GAS. I'M JUST LOOKING FOR REALISTIC OPTIONS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERINCED THE MOTORS AND BUILDS THAT CAN HELP ME OUT TO SAVE TIME AN MONEY!!! I GUESS AN ALL MOTOR B18C1 IS AN OPTION TO?

Caps lock is incredibly annoying. Second thing, if you are gonna go all motor the engine to get is a B18C5 (Type R) since it has higher compression ratios and more HP. C5SpoonEG has a pretty quick B18C5.

I know that forged pistons are about $400 for a set and eagle rods are also about $400 for a set. Piston rings are like $200 for a set. I know that to have AEBS sleeves installed its some where around $1000. I dunno how much more it would be to have the pistons, rods, rings, and crank installed. AEBS sleeves are suppose to be some of the best stuff, so you might not need sleeves that good for your build.
Im actually spending the same amount on my EK.. but only expecting to get near 200whp if lucky for that amount.. no way 4k will get you to 300whp unless you already have B16A or B18C1.. I have been looking between 3 options.. but no one can say for sure which will give the most HP.. Whether it be doing the mini swap on my Y7 .. then rebuilding the block as stated above with new pistons rods.. and doing full headwork with cams ..but if i go this route ill spend even more as ill have to rebuild my tranny and buy hondata and pay someone to tune it.. plus is this rebuild gonna get me to over 200whp NA??.. B16.. if sunrise is selling for 2k as they have listed .. then i can get swap with hondata .. and get it tuned with minor bolt ons.. CAI/Headers/TB/Intake Manifold/Exhaust/Stage 1 cam..Or the choice which seems to have most options for power .. B18C1.. 3200 with LSD tranny to start.. which doesnt leave much room for extras.. since ACT Clutch is 500.. so with the GSR engine will be no way i can hit 200whp for 4k.. So if someone who has done some work .. or has seen specs on a vehicle using same engine D16Y8 or B16A .. that is over 200whp and you can pinpoint the parts being within 4k budget.. please let me know or link.. as i have cash right now and am trying to decide myself.. If i go to a tuner shop they just want me to buy the most expensive of course cuz thats how they get their money..
