Default Which B-Series in '99 EX

I've got a '99 EX Sedan and I am looking to swap the engine to some b-series engine within the next few years (whenever I get the money cause im in college right now). After the swap I eventually do want to turbo the engine when I have the money. I'm not necesarily looking to drag race but I do want a really fast street car.

Now what engines would you guys recommend for the swap (within b-series) and say what reasons you recommend a particular engine (advantages/disadvantages, likes/dislikes) I'm open to any comments. I figure. I had better start researching now cause that way when I do get the money I will know exactly what I want. And I do want to keep this emissions legal which I guess means no swapping to any OBD-1 engines.

I would definitely go with the b16a2. Its what goes in the 99 civic si so you shouldnt have any problems. thats a good swap and would be good to go turbo eventually as long as you get a good tune you could run a turbo on the stock internals too. for the swap though i would definitely have 1000 or so extra cash after you buy the engine and tranny and ecu for whatever and new mounts. The ecu if you get the usdm b16a2 not the jdm b16a 2nd generation it will be obdII). Hope this helps in your swap.

i getting my b16a2 from hmotorsonline.com for $2752 shipped.
plus like stated above you can boost it with stock internals aswell just like a d16y8. and get aproxamently about 210whp and 176wtq out of it with a good tune. but when i get mine it will be turbo'd with a peakboost turbo kit (garret t3/t4) 57trim i think. or you could check out homemadeturbo.com aswell and save some cash when you are ready. but my swap will be an automatic JDM spec b16a2 (SiRII) obd2. but if you want power out of the box you could go with a b18c( GSR ) or a type-r motor also. But good luck.

That seems like a steep price for B16A2. I was also looking at getting the JDM B18C.

Thats what I'm saveing up for, ab18c . I'm also researching now even though it will be awhile untill I have saved up enough money for it (only got $500 saved so far [&:]). I don't think I'll turbo it though... It's a good engine for N/A or boost I hear.I'll prollyjust do some light internal work like more aggresive cams along with I/H/E.
