d16y7 into 98 ex wiring help
ok so i took a d16y7 out of a civic to put in my ex, i used the d16y7 wiring harness and ecu except i never realized that the on the ex wiring harness has the three plugs for the ecu on the engine wiring harness and the d16y7 only has 2 on the engine wiring harness and one on the harness that is part of the under hood fuse box. so what im wondering is where the wiring harness for the under hood fuse box goes, like what else it hooks to? and how easy to get out it is? thanks a ton for any help like a wiring diagram picture or anything

just use the d16y7 head and block, put everything from your d16y8 on to it,. everything bolts up and you will have no problems, use the d16y8 harness also. you will just have 2 extra plugs that use to plug up to the vtec solnoid.

i was going to use the y8 harness for another swap, should i save the headache and just get another one? i thought that i could leave everything from the y7 on it and use that with the y8 harness anyways? was i misinformed? thanks

well from the way you explained it, the y7 is a obd2b harness and the car is obd2a so the plugs are gonna be different, i say save a huge headache and just use the y8 harness, and intake manifold. now why were you gonna use the y8 harness, if you were planning on converting a nonvtec car to a vtec then just keep the original harness and just run 2 extra wires yourself.

Yeah going to put a b18c into a 2000 dx so I needed the vtec but that isn't going to work now that I know the harnesses aren't the same, thanks a ton, I didn't know the obd2 a and b has different harnesses, just thought the computer was different, now Im gonna have to learn how to wire vtec as soon as I get this swap done, thanks again problem solved
