Default motor swap

i was thinking about swapping my motor from the 00 EX, b18 i suppose.now, i have some questions, does the tranny work with all other engines? what engine should i ask for when calling junk yards? what computer do i need to switch to , and does it just plug in and work fine or is there some wireing that will be needed to do?

most of the time, you will buy the whole swap as a package deal. if you call mainstrem engine suppliers, they will charge a lot for it. check out ebay, you can get some good deals there. and stay away from sellers with low feedback, theres a lot of scammers out there. and dont pay by check or anything for anything that big.

but can i just get an engine from the junk yard. rebuild it and take the computer with it, and just slap in into my car? or do i have to redo the whole wireing harness?

I agree with sacicons. Absolutely do not buy anything from someone with feedback under, say, 50 positive reviews. If you find a deal that you absolutely cannot pass up, make sure to call the person on the phone first, and myby have him take pictures and send them to you or something. Sorry I cant help you with the B18 questions. If it helps the person who had my car before me spliced all the wires from the h22 into the civic SI harness. Not saying thats a good idea, but that mayby its possible. To this Day I still shudder when I have to pull my wiring harness out.

if you get a good swap, you can use the harness that comes with it and just run a couple of wires. believe me, trying to find a cheap way into a swap is never worth it. i fought my original one for months before i got most of the bugs worked out, when i got my second one, i got the whole damn front clip of the car and pulled the engine myself, went through and changed the accessories myself, and installed it myself (all with help of friends, but i didnt pay someone else to do it) and have had almost no problems with it since.
