Default Will swap work?

I was wondering if there was an available engine type that could fit the D16y8 transmission with just swapping the motor and not a FULL swap? . .

My D series is finally starting to croak and want something a little better, but being in the military does not give me the greatest fund money for it. Any Help?

Most all D series motors will be compatible with the transmission. You are best off buying a full swap and going to something like a B18c5 or b18c1. You will be pulling the trans anyways when the swap happens.

I appreciate it. What do you then think would be a better swap? I mean of coarse any b18, in particularly a c5. But in my little civic, I was thinking of trying to see if I can get a DOHC non-vtec to fit. Suggestions?

Non vtec DOHC meaning B series? They make a few non vtec dohc motors.

B18b1 is a non vtec motor, installation is pretty much the same as the B18c5 motor.

ya, I was looking at either the b18b1 or I believe it was the F20B but did not know if that would work or fit?

Yes, they will fit with proper swap mounts (if applicable), wiring, etc etc. It isn't too difficult. A first timer who has knowledge about the car could probably swap in a B18b1 over the course of a weekend.

There are kits (mounts, wiring, etc.) available for installing most 4-cyl Honda engines into your particular car. You have tons of options, and whichever you pick should fit.
