Hello my names Tyler and I'm kinda new to the Honda scene. And I'm buying an 03 Civic originally an automatic that has no motor or tranny in it. But I found a B18 (long block) with a 5 speed tranny. With your generation Civic (01-05) you cannot swap in a B series without extensive modifications. Even if you get it in, good luck passing emissions.

Anyways, I believe you are pretty much limited to the D17, or a K20. Go K20z1 if you have the money.

 

What kind of extensive modifications are we talking about? And why wouldn't it pass emissions?

 

Older engine in a newer car is usually not emissions friendly.

I never played with 01-05 Civics, so I am not sure of what would be needed. I would do some research. Honda-tech.com may be a better source of knowledge for something like this.
