For $1700 it better be faster thana 14.3. You can get in to the high 14's with just weight reduction and some slick driving.

i think the primairy question is what D engine did he have? cause i don't think that he would be putting low 14's with a D15B8 for example. but i could be wrong, it would also depend on what parts he bought.

i could see it on practically any D. i bet a ton of time was spent in weight reduction. think about this: 1G JDMD15B, stage 2 cam + valvetrain, port and polish + 3way valve job, tune, weight redux. thats 1k-1.5kgive or take a few hundred depending on the headwork and tune...but around 1k-ishright there. you should be able to hit 14's on that easily. in fact...screw the d15b...you could do it with a z6 or y8 no problem.

http://www.akmee.com/sohc-vtec/remix-14-724.wmv

14.7 at 93mph with 139whp(akmee head package which is around $500

overbore .30 and run 10.5 to 1 pistons, do not run forged pistons or rods run a lightweight combo like aluiminum. that should cost in total around $800 or so.

That leaves $400, Add a good bisimoto header and 14.3 is a joke
