93 octane safe? fuel cleaners? octane boost?
i have a 95 ex with about 165k miles on it and i was wondering if going from the normal 83 unleded octane to running on premium 93 would be ok for the engine? also, would it make a noticable difference in response?
also, i see that there are some fuel cleaners that claim to clean fuel injectors, carburetors, intake valves and ports, combustion chambers, cylinder heads and piston tops. does this really work and does it really restore lost power?
and last question, i've seen these "octane boost" products and i was wondering if they really work. most of them claim to gain up to 1 octane but i dunno.
thanks.
sorry if any of these are a re-post.

go with some fuel system cleaner, but instead of wasting money on boosting octane, get the 87 octane at Shell or Chevron. the extra cleaners they use are less of a waste of money than dumping additives in all the time.

be very careful with them engine cleaners ive herad that they can mess up good engines by messing up geskets with their cleaning agents so be careful and by engine cleaners i mean the Motor flush thype products and do not use slick 50 it will dirty up your engine like if it was a 300,000 mile motor

yeah, i think he meant fuel system cleaners that you pour in the gas tank. and a buddy of mines dad used to drag race old dodges, and he raced the hell out of this one for years with no major problems, then he put Slick50 in at the urging of a friend, then blew the motor at the next trip to the track. coincidence? i dont know, but its enough to make me shy away from it. ill stick to MMO.
