95 Civic over heats.....Help!
Hi Ooooooooo,
So heres why I think my car overheats. I used to live in NY and now I live in LA. Before I drove across country my car never overheated, before I left I decided to put one of those cleaning detergents in at the same time I got an oil change. With the detergent in the engine and a fresh oil change I set out to drive cross country. Everthing was going fine until I got to New Mexico when I felt my car acting a little slugish. The route I took from NY to NM was about 2000 miles or so. Anyway I got the oil changed again in NM and they said the oil was extremly low. After NM I kept heading out west. thru to LA and thru the MOJAVE desert. Thats when my car started to overheat. The temperature was about 100 degrees easily and my car started to overheat so much that I had to drive with the heat on full blast to vent the engine. So I finally made it to LA and my car still kinda overheats when I'm driving for only around 15-20 mins
Long story short does anyone know how to keep my civic from overheating. I don't think I've ever put any water in it. In fact I don't know where to put the water.

you need to check the coolant. to add coolant, take the radiator cap off, then fill it up. you will have to bleed the system after. does your fan come on? check your thermostat. i bet it's stuck close.
