B16 Deficiencies?

RE: B16 Deficiencies?
So there's no way to fix the D16Y8's oiling and bearing problem? Because if the problems are something that can be fixed while I'm rebuilding the engine, then I won't swap at all...
But if those are problems that can't be fixed, then I'm not going to waste my time rebuilding it.

if ur shooting for 225hp i would swap out. it might cost more but on the long run getting a jdm engine at 35000 miles which will last u to 200,000miles. IMO deal. plus you would have the benefit of DOHC

RE: B16 Deficiencies?
Does DOHC really benfit anything in a boosted application though?
I do like the thought of a B18C1... but I have to control my spending, I tend to get wild plans and I swore to myself that I would leave this car alone but now I'm starting to crack...

RE: B16 Deficiencies?
I remember finding a fix for the oil pump on a y8. I dont remember where though, just do a search. I just swaped out my y8 for a B16, and I think it was well worth it. I am going to boost it as soon as I get the money.

RE: B16 Deficiencies?
keep the Y8 and put in an aftermarket oil pump....... 225 whp is very obtainable on a sohc motor with just ARP headstuds, u just need a good tuner. U could buy a Z6 or a jdm D15 and boost that.......theyre cheap too.
