Default Bad throw out bearing.... Should I just get a whole new clutch?

My car makes a knocking noise when I push in the clutch. My friend is saying it's the throw out bearing and I need to change. I'm planning on doing it with myself and a friend.

I just did a mini me swap on my 99 civic lx (y7 to y8). And I've kind of been running it so that's probably why the throw out bearing's bad. So my question is should I just replace the bearing or get a whole new clutch?

Also if I do get a new clutch, should I get stage 1 or stage 2? I have the swap so my horsepower has increased around 20hp. I'm considering putting a turbo in, but I'm not completely sure when.

Notes:
Replace whole clutch or just throw out bearing?
If whole new clutch, Stage 1 or Stage 2?

Replace entire clutch if it is the original.

I'm pretty sure it's the original. I've been reading a lot and I think I'm gonna go with stage 1.

but you should feel the flywheel surface! if its not flat and smooth take it off and see if it can be turned down smooth. its just like your brake pads and rotors, its best to have a flat smooth surface with new pads otherwise your not getting full pad contact!
and yes i would also agree you replace the whole clutch. its cheap to replace and removing the tranny can be a headache so while its tore open just replace it all and be confident in your new clutch setup

Thanks for the replies me and my friend replaced everything. It took us a while, but I'm glad we did it. But it's still making the noise and I replaced everything! I don't know what it is. My other friend said my transmission might be ****ting the bed. I mean it has about 118,000 miles. It does go away when I press in the clutch so I don't know what it could be.

It's the input shaft bearing. Throw out bearing does the opposite... noise with clutch disengaged, goes away when engaged.

God dammit. The clutch looked fine to me too and the throw out bearing looked the same as the new one too.

well you can always sell the old parts to recoupe some money. i sold mine before for like 40bucks or something for the clutch and pressure plate and alignment tool.
it was used but still fine. i just had the motor and tranny out so i went ahead and replaced it to KNOW it wouldnt be a problem later down the road....
some people just want a cheap quick replacement as long as its still good.

just sell those parts and start saving to get the tranny worked on! and if any gears ever grind or tuff to get in gear sometimes might as well take it to tranny shop to get new syncros as well. but if they are all fine then just take out the tranny and carry it into a tranny shop. they charge FAR LESS if you carry it in yourself and reinstall yourself at home just have them replace those bearings on it. call around for prices
