Hello, I have a 1994 civic hatchback witha 1.5L andthe head gasket is blown (probably warped the head...) I am wondering if Iit would be easier(and cheaper) to have the head machined and put it back on, or Ihave the chance to purchase a non v-tech head that also is off of a 1.5L but it has 16 valves (still a sohc) would it fit given 92-94same year...? Also if I were to have the 16 valve head installed would I notice much more power or economy? (the car ismy econo-driver). Thank you, all replies are appreciated in advance.

 

yes the 16 valve head will fit if your pistons have 4 valve relief holes cut inthem. some 8 valves did come with them and some didnt. Everything will bolt right up even the distributor. you will gain more power because the d15b8 is rated at 70hp and the d15b7 is rated at 102hp so somewere of a gain inbetween there
