Uhhhh... If the timing belt snapped while the car was running (I know you just bought it).. you might as well swap out the engine since internals could be really F-ed up. Hopefully, the timing belt is good, I'm told they can last up to 150k. However, Many would not recommend from the previous sentence i typed. I changed mine at 125k, when I got the car. Some do it as early as every 60k. Keep us posted.

what do u mean by internals is it the valves and things like that or the piston rods could be damaged too?

From what I know (correct me if I am wrong), the timing belt turns the cam gear which turns the camshaft. Turning the camshaft basically raises and lowers the valves to allow air and fuel to enter. If the camshaft ceases to spin along with the engine correctly, then your Valves will be moving up and down at the wrong times possibly allowing the piston to smash into them. "Internals" etc. You would have to remove the head (i think..) and a few other parts along with some tools needed (valve spring compressor etc.) in order to check and see how they look and replaced if needed. Or maybe a compression test to check?? i'm not exactly sure about that though. You may be able to use the search link up top in order to research it a little, too.

Correct. Remove the valve cover and upper timing belt cover to inspect the timing belt. If the belt is broken or has slipped, then properly re-install a good timing belt and do a compression test on all the cylinders. Good luck.
