a d15b is a vtec engine and only from japan. a d15b2 is a no vtec from 88-91 a d15b7 is a non vtec from 91-95
it is possible to use d16 rods in all these engines, you just need custom pistons that are shorter from the piston pin to the top, because the rods are longer and regular pistons for a d15 or d16 will collide with the head.
a jdm d15b uses d16 rods and the special pistons only available to that engine.

no all d15bs just say d15b on it...because theyre all the same block with different heads. marty correct me if im wrong...but all the JDM D15B Vtec engine is is a d15b block with a z6 head on it and a slightly more agressive cam.

The JDM D15B is like a de-stroked D16Z6. It has the stronger rods of the d16 but has a shorter deck than even a usdm d15b2 or b7. The JDM D15B is like a basturd child of the D series family with it's only short fall being a shorter deck but the only reason it is a shortfall is when you try to buy aftermarket pistons for it.
