D16y7 Modding?
#21
I'm not buying an expensive turbo, and don't want to spend a couple grand on a motor swap. The mini me swap, with a decent turbo running bout 6-8 psi, exhaust, headers, and few other minor mods, where do you think that put me with a stock dx 1.6? 200-230 HP? If i do that and its still fairly reliable for a daily driver i'd be happy. Any other engine mods besides a complete swap and the mini me swap, staying reliable?
unless you have a couple grand to spend, you're not going to get a lot of power out of the y7. Of any "smaller" mod, the mini-me would be the best choice though.
What do you mean by "decent" turbo? Size? Condition? And "running bout 6-8 PSI" means NOTHING at all. What size turbo? And what about the rest of the turbo setup? What size injectors? What size exhaust? What are you using to tune? You need to do soooooo much more research if you are thinking about boost, and you'll also need a couple grand.
It's header, not headers btw, but like nike said the turbo mani will take its place anyway.
Mini-me, intake, exhaust, and you'll be happy. Then research your *** off, save up some money, and boost.

y8 head
y8 dizzy
y8 intake manifold(optional) but a gain to do it
head gasket
intake gasket
y8 wire harness to cut the plugs needed to re wire yours
knock sensor
obd2b vtec ecu (or jumper harness and convert to obd1 and get a p28 ecu and no knock sensor will be needed)
some extra wire
some ecu pins from a donor car
and since you have all that stuff off during swap go ahead and get new timing belt/water pump
