D16y7 Modding?
Ok so yes I have the lousy non vtec 1.6L engine and all I have is an after market k&n intake and I was wondering what are some simple mods I could do without spending an arm and a leg that would get me moving?

Sorry to hear you put an intake o that engine I know you must regret that one... On my Y7 the aftermarket intake KILLED my engine bay :P
You can do header/exhaust for very minimal gains or go for a mini-me swap to a Y8 head...

i would recommend the mini me swap. it will cost, off the top of my head, around 200 bucks for a d16y8 head and the gaskets needed. the only thing is thats a pretty tough thing to do if you have no idea what your doing. prolly wouldnt be to hard with a haynes manual. but the y8 head would bolt right up to the y7 block, simple as that. that will give you vtec. you also have to wire in the vtec. heres a link with the wiring diagrams if you want to take a look. i believe you also can buy a y8 harness and that will work to.

I may have missed what all the argument was about cause im a little uckfed up, but on my y7, I originally had an ebay short ram. When I went to the store to buy a K&N filter I put it on in the parking lot. when I drove it home, I noticed for sure that It was a little torquier than the same drive on the same day TO the store. I think its a worthwhile mod, and you can always put the filter on your y8 after the swap
