I dont think you understand what people are trying to tell you. It takes a lot of money and work to get a d series motor to hit 200hp with an all motor build. And since your a beginner I highly suggest again that you dont do this. Boosting your civic would be easier, you dont even have to open the engine up!(depending on how much hp you make) But damn you just have a b18 chilling on the side? Build that thing then, you could easily make 200hp with that and definitly not spend as much as you would for the d. Also boosting a d can be done for less that 2k if you shop around, trust me people do it all day, back when my car was about to get boosted I was about to have all the parts I needed besides the tune for under 1k. Why arent you a boost guy btw I hear people say this all the time and I dont get why. Also have you thought about supercharging it? Supercharging would probably be the easiest because there really isnt that much to bolt up. Anyways just some thoughts, but stay away from the all motor d unless you just have time and money you can blow.

I would hold off on a s/c'd LS since the non-vtec B18's got the M45 (same as the d series) Eaton set-up from JRSC. I would take the LS short block, toss a B16 head for LS vtec, and throw a supercharger on that head (M62 blower). Now, put some nice cams in and do some sort of meth injection and re-tune, you should be getting really close to the 250 mark, if you haven't passed it already.

For me i use to have a supercharged car.. I like the head snapping instant power.. I never had a turbo.. I was looking at Revtech turbo kit.. i saw them for like $2500.. They say like 75hp added.. .. To get 300hp.. I would think you would need to beef up the internals..

It all depends on what yu are using it for.. around ca.. you have to make sure anything you do is carb legal.. So for me it would be better to build a spare motor bec in fact whats on the inside they cant see... Just a thought..
