Default d16y8-d15b

if i were to build a d15b and swap it, would the y8 tranny still work? or would i need a d15b tranny?

ive been looking for y8 blocks but they all have such high miles and i can get a whole longblock d15b with like 35k for 400 bucks.

my only y8 option is my buddies built block that would run me 3k and i would prefer to spend a lot less than that

if the y8 tranny fits the d15b would this swap be basically east as swapping a y8? i hear there basically the same engine.

the d15b would be like doing a z6 swap and yes the transmission will work

so it would bolt up with relative ease with no extra modifications? sweet, got a couple questions about it though ifyou would be so kind to answer.

1.) does anyone know how hard one of these would be to build, and would it be a good engine for running around 325whp out of

im going with the usual stage 2 motor build, bore, new bearings, pistons, rods the usual and also a beefed up head..

2.) and are these motors harder to tune because of the dual vtec?

only reason im asking all this is because they are so easy to find and they are all dirt cheap with like 35k on them and a z6/y8 would be damn near impossible to find with 35k and for like 600-700bucks.

thx everyone

D15B is a great motor to build. 325whp? Any idea what a 325 whp civic is? I bet if you had a 225whp civic youd be MORE than happy.

getting a 225whp civic in about 2 weeks, waiting on intercooler piping.. i want a 325 just for a project car and it would be really really fun, just looking into it now though, i gotta have a backup motor so i might as well build it for fun

are d15b's rods and stuff the same size as z6/y8's? cuz i looked around for parts and it seems they make no internal parts for it... hmph, i know the stroke is smaller than the y8/z6's but yea, confusing and first day researching it only [:'(]

and marty, would i need to change my ecu off of my y8? right now i got a obd1 p28 chipped ecu coming, would that work to convert an obd2 d15b? or would i have to just buy a different harness?
