Default d16y8 head swap.

Hey guys.

Im now considering maybe doing a y8 head swap for my 93" 1.6 vtec. Just a few minor questions and concerns. Im looking in to getting a Skunk2 intake manifold, do I get the one for 92-95 civics, or 96-2000? Also, I have a Holley 68mm TB at home its for 92-95 civic, would it work with either of the skunk manifolds for 92-95 and 96-2000 civic? Should I upgrade to a stage 1 cam at the same time? Do I need any thing else other than the head?
Thanks guys!
Andrey

Why do you want the Y8 head if you already have vtec?

itll bump compression about half a point. i think the manifold will work on either one, if theres different p#s for them, get the 96+. yeah, the TB should work fine. and yeah, go for the cam while your at it. the higher comp will love the bigger cam.

Ok, say with the y8 head, and a stage 1 cam, how much HP and torque can I expect to gain? If all this was done on a stock 1.6 vtec.

i'd say conservatively, 20hp, but it depends on how aggressive the cam you go with is. and torque should be close to that, probably a little less, but still VERY noticeable.

haha. i guess no wonder ppl consider the D16 series to be the "mini-me" of the B16 series. 20 hp is quite impressive.

Yeah, a lot of people are just... stupid. If you don't have a B16A, no one expects you to turn any impressive numbers. But it ain't hard to show 'em with a D16...
