d16y8 head swap on a d16y7
hi im looking to do a head swap but was wondering which head was better to do. the d16y8 or the d16z6. i currrently have a 98 civic dx and looking for some power gains. thanks
I had the exact same car...a sedan anyway. Aside from the intake I put on AEM Power pulleys for the power steering pump and the alternator. I got a smoothboost in torque and low to mid power delivery and response, BUT, the larger diameter pulley on the alternator caused the lights to dim whenit was at an idle (due to less revolutions on the alternator). If you can put up with that then go for the pulleys while your at it. I looked into getting a higher output alternator but the dam thing was such abitch to remove (you have to remove the drive axle to actually remove it from the car); I gave up and hada garage do it for the alternator.
But I want to know too...the z6 or the y8? I have a z6 currently and what I'veread is that the z6 is the higher flowing head. But I want to see what others say.....
