D16Y8? SOHC Underdrive Pulley? Will it damage engine?
Ive seen a couple of post on the crank pulleys and I have got one on the way, I seen a post that on any SOHC Honda's It would not damage anything? I dont run no big Stereo's or nothing that draws alot of power either can you guys/gals help me?
Thanks,

Depends on who you talk to, I personally do not believe that the D series engines have harmonic balancers in them. Some people will swear that they do. I have spoken to some Honda techs and to AEM and UR, UR says that it is not a harmonic balancer and AEM refuses to make a crank pulley...
So it's really your call, but if you do get a full set of pulleys, I'd look into engine mounts (polyurethane) and a engine torque dampner.

Underdrive pulleys have already been discussed quite a few times on the forum, so use the search feature. I personall do not believe in thier use but you can read the other posts and make your own decision.

an underdrive crank pulley won't damage your engine right away, if ever, but it can. i never really got up close to any y8s to see if it has a harmonic dampner on it, but my d16z6 does. i would rather just spend the money on something that has more gains like a header or cam.
and chimera i guess its really technically not a harmonic balancer like you see on v8s and such but the one on my civic is weighted and has different rubber orings through it of different sizes, thicknesses and durometers to abosorb vibration i guess. i was going to put my non-weighted d15 pulley on my z6 but my dad told me not too because it is there for a purpose, and is needed for engine longevity, over a few horsepower from the lighter pulley. and my dad has biult, stripped engines and raced for years. he actually owns a junkyard.
