d16z6 head

Ok i finally figured out that when my motor was shipped it messed the head up and it was only a matter of time before my head blew... well it blew oil from the dizzy and i decided i needed a new head so i picked one up for $60 and luckly i have access to clean up the head and do a head gasket set, well do i need new head bolts and where do i get those and where is the best place to pick up a head gasket set???? should i go ahead and put better valves and valve springs in it ????

theres no better time than now. and look at ebay for a gasket set. oh, and remember that you cant retorque head bolts, but you CAN retorque headSTUDS, like ARPs, so thats not a bad investment, let alone that they are stronger than stockers.

Yes you can. 43 lbs isn't enough to permanently twist them.

RE: d16z6 head

ok heres a question, my motor in my car is the d15b and the head i have is a d16z6, now i was reading on different forums that the d15b's head has amore aggressive cam, can i use the d15b cam in my d16z6 head???

RE: d16z6 head

you can retorque them? oh well, doesnt change my opinion. i would still go with the ARPs. pretty cheap compared to having them stretch or something down the road.

but i dont think you can use the d15b cam, i think its 3-stage Vtec, right? i doubt it would work well, if at all.

check your ignition timing off your dizzy, it will sit and crank all day but if ur 180 degrees of it wont start, just pull ur distributor and turn that thing that turns lol 180 degrees, but make sure before you do anything that 1. your plugs are gapped correctly. 2. all little wires and connectors are plugged in and finally your pulley and cam gear timing is perfect oh yea and ur firing order is correct....
