Default dpfi on a mini-me

its a 89 hatch with d15b6 been thinkin of putin a z6 head an pistions in it. not going for great power but want more than 60hp i dont even care about using the vtec, but what would that do with dpfi?

also the car now will not turn over 5k rpms it just popin through the exhaust i put valve springs thought theywere weak did not help car has 232,600 miles it uses about a quart of oil ever 100 miles it smokes bad, my compression is about 195psi on all cyl. trying to decide which to do rebuild the b6 with new valves, rings, bearings or do it with the z6 parts, z6 head has 500miles since rebuiltthe car is a for work not play. im a painter just think hatch with 15ft ladder on the roof it is so funny.

well it sounds like you have a problem not going over 5k. a mini me swap is only good if you actually hook up the vtec, otherwise its a waste of time and will never run to its full potential. you would need to do a mpfi conversion (google that) its not too hard but does require so wiring. but if you have your heart set on a new engine look for a lower mile d16z6 and swap it in to your car. its a direct bolt in and is better than just doing the mini me swap.

I have a complete z6 engine but i am not going for greatpower that 8valve just sucks a$$. but (z6) i think a rod hit the very bottom of the cyl if i can get a pic ill post it.

what would happen thoughif u put the z6 with the dpfi i dont want to any more money than i have to but i got to rebuild somthing

also the d15b6 i think was mpfi where the car isdpfi could this happen to be the cause of only turnin 5k mabey?

I googled that mpfi coversion i, anit doing that to a 180$ junkcar so what about the z6 with the dpfi it would still run ok right just not have power to its full potienal which is fine with me cause i anit even hookin up the vtec if i do it, i just think the 16 valve would be so much better than that 8 valve even with out the vtec

the car would really run like ****. with the z6 head on you gain compression, and the dpfi system barely flows any air at all and the fuel is just enough for the d15 it came on, so adding the new head and not doing it right will only cause more problems than its worth. if your not doing the swap for extra power or vtec, then don't do it, because it will just be a headache. just find another d15b and swap that in.

and if your car is an 8 valve you might have some valve to piston clearance problems with 4 extra valves and no piston reliefs.
