Default Drive by Wire?

So I've had my Civic almost 2 months and want a little more power but not sure how, so I thought a bigger throttle body, it worked on my Jeep. However after talking to a guy at Blox he's pretty sure it's drive by wire, so the TB thing would be out of the question. So here's my question, Is my 2004 Civic DX(with a D17A1) drive by wire? If so, other than a full exhaust system and cold air intake what can I do for a little more HP (note: I don't have the cash for a Turbo). Any help would be appreciated, I'm new to the JDM world, so I know very little if anything.

here is my suggestion... NITRIOUS... its dope, i want it, it's about $600 for most applications if not cheaper. refills depending on tank size are about 40-75bucks, and will last you a while if your running a 30-shot. turbo for your car is not really that much, you could save up for it, it would be worth it. i am getting my nitrious, then my turbo within the year so. well see how that goes.

I just did a little research and you have to have a donor ecu from a rsx-s($600), plus a Hondata camgear($180) plus the software, I think. So no, I'm thinking in the under 500 area. Thanks a lot for the suggestion it has given me reference for a future modification I didn't know existed.

I'm most likely wrong, but I've done some reading and research, and I don't think nitrous is the safest way to gain the power I want (no offense) especially since my engine is mostly stock(my understanding is you need some beefed up parts to control it) but from the damage that CAN be done, just isn't worth the risk. In addition I thought nitrous was really guaged more towards racing applications. And I've considered saving up for a turbo, I drove a turboed Jetta before I bought my civic and loved it, it's just that I'm so impatient. Again thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it, please keep them coming.

so you know what I'm working with http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2672696
