Default Squeaking noise when A/C is turned on

Hey guys I havea 94 civic dx.... my a/c currently doesnt work and whenever i do put it on just to get a breeze it makes a squeak as it clicks on. It will also make a squeak from somewhere under my hood whenever I shift out of first gear with the a/c on. Does anyone know what this could be related to? Thanks for any help!

i got that same problem with my 97 H.X. and have been wondering what it could be, even when i get to a high rpm it squeels. havnt really showed to much concern about it until i saw this thread and thought i would comment it a see what people say about it, i always thought my belt was loose but it seems to be tight enough.

yea change out your belts its easy and such like that .....that would be the best thing its pretty much like a alternator but serves a different purpose. So check your belts

i would say 1 of 2 things... either belt is alittle lose OR belt is just to old and needs to be replaced....
