Default dry oil filter

hi folks

purchased an 05 ex last dec.
dealer told me to change out the "break-in oil" at 3750 miles

tonite, got her up on the jack stands, removed the filer and no oil came spilling out.
after doing maintaince on all my rigs for the past 30+ years this the first time i have ever pulled a filter off and not had oil in the filter

I called the dealer, the only guys left were the sales dept. They did find a stray tech before he went home.

apparently there is not much concern on their part, they said put the filter back on and bring it here in the morning.

am i missing something here?

any replys would be appreciated

m

when working as a tech, i saw quite a few vehicles that have the filter angled in such a way that when at rest for a while, all of the oil will drain out...

call the service manager this morning and told him of the situation, he was quite shocked,
took the rig to dealer, up on lift, sm speaks with tech, tech says this is not that uncommon

just as you said, if it sits parked at the right incline, all the oil can and will drain out

they did an oil change with me standing there watching, guess what, lots of oil pouring out of the filter

messy all over the place

feel much better now

love them messy oily engines[:@]
